HIBS is based in the hill resort of the Genting Highlands, in Pahang, Malaysia. At an elevation of 3,000ft, it is a truly one-off spectacular location to go to school, and with capital Kuala Lumpur just thirty minutes away, is ideally located. It’s very accessible, with international flight connections from the airport in Kuala Lumpur, with the school then an easy car, bus or train ride away. Student safety is also paramount to HIBS, with round-the-clock security deployed to ensure the best possible environment to learn.
Excellent facilities are on offer to students, from a large and airy cafeteria serving six meals and teas daily to the modern halls of residences separated for boys and girls. Sports facilities are on site, including tennis and basketball courts. The school is extremely well staffed, with 36 academic staff under the leadership of principal Aw Sai Hong. HIBS enjoys a student to teacher ratio of just 6:1, ensuring no child is forgotten and has easy availability to academic support in school. HIBS received a four-star rating in the Ministry of Education’s Education Section (Private Sector) Standard Quality Assessment.
Alongside the focus on academic success and individual pastoral care is an emphasis on career planning and development. The school’s International Placement Centre offers career advice, talks, assessments and will also assist students through every stage of their university application process at top institutions around the world. That includes understanding English language requirements and the necessary deadlines for each application stage. There are also opportunities thanks to the school’s twinning with other programmes in Malaysia.
