Student experience at HIBS is just as valued as academic achievement, with the school’s holistic approach to education designed to produce intelligent, fulfilled young people aware of their role in the world. So as well as making lessons enjoyable through working together, HIBS also puts on a massive range of exciting events for its students.
Regular extra-curricular activities are available, from sports classes including football, swimming and volleyball, to cross country runs. An annual sports day, swimming carnival and cross-country race are a chance for students to pit their sporting mettle against one another. Wonderful, unique opportunities are also on offer for students to explore their new Malaysian home, with children able to go jungle trekking and camping and enjoy field trips to the likes of the Langkawi archipelago. With Kuala Lumpur only thirty minutes away, it is truly a brilliant setting for students to enjoy their life outside of education.
Clubs and societies also allow students to pursue their passions, from photography and art to choir and regular film nights. There’s truly something for everyone thanks to HIBS’ student-oriented approach - and kids here will certainly never be bored!
Developing students’ cultural awareness and respect for each other is also key to the HIBS ethos of being a multi-racial and co-educational school, epitomised through its Cultural Night. Other one-off events are also celebrated, including Founder’s Day, formal dinners and an inspiring range of speakers are frequently brought into the school. Students are rewarded for achievements through the awards evening.
